Shards of Rainbow

A lovely arc of color swept through skies here recently. Unfortunately it must have misjudged it's landing place and crashed straight into the side of the house.
No pot of gold appeared but shards of rainbow littered the living room, leaking in through the windows....
I should have been sad to see the broken bits scattered across the floor, slipping down the walls, but it appeared happy enough still. Colors as brilliant as ever....
We couldn't let the rainbow bits go to waste and promptly scooped them up.

Susie Cat stepped into a rainbow puddle and let the colors warm her little feline toes....

A nearby crystal almost hummed with life as we let a bit of rainbow land on it....

Alan took the opportunity to super charge his wedding ring...
Not a bit of rainbow was wasted. :D

The look of Superiority...

Yeah, that's it. Right there, glowing numbers on the dvr clock that are evidence of my superior feelings today. Already up, beat the neighborhood rooster, breakfast has been had, chocolate chip stash has been raided AND I'm half way through my first cup of coffee...all before 4:30 am.
The feelings of superiority wash over me like a hot shower on a frosty day. I take my cheap thrills where I can get them. I relish them, savor them,. glance at the clock repeatedly as the sky lightens beyond our kitchen window and dawn begins to break...cause I am UP, before the fricking sun.
Huzzah!
This is the bonus of having a wack-a-doo schedule that rotates around the clock more times than a second hand.
Mind you in a day or so we'll be getting up at regular, non-superior hours, so I shall relish this while I can. Silently staring holes in the neighbor's houses whispering "Suck it you lazy sleepy heads, suck it."

Not So Gourmet After All...

A while back "fresh ground pepper" were the most popular culinary buzz words on the food channel etc. (says me)
We were intrigued, we liked pepper and then we found a gorgeous copper coloured grinder on sale that made us feel like epicurean royalty with gourmet palettes every time we used it.
The only problem was I like to get my exercise in before we eat or after.
During is a little annoying, not to mention the torture of freshly cooked *insert delicious hot and cheesy meal name here* scents tickling my senses as I grind and grind and grind AND grind...for what seemed like forever quickly grew tiresome.
NOT to mention, the amount of ground pepper I use during the cooking process quickly outgrew the meager amount my pepper grinder produced.
Recently I had an epiphany and ground up almost a full half cups worth of black peppercorns all in one go using my handy dandy all purpose food juicer/grinder/best kitchen friend. It's technically fresh ground...for a day at least. And for the week or two it takes to use the black pepper it's pretty freshly ground and one helluva a lot easier to use during cooking than my ol' copper mill.
So another epiphany, I'm not so gourmet that week old ground pepper offends my senses. Which is cool, because now I've freed myself from the burden of the pepper mill, gained a wee bit of counter space and got a new decorative thing-a-ma-bob to collect dust with all the dust collecting other thing-a-ma-bobs.
Sweet! (well, actually, it's spicy)

Blowing a Lizard's Mind...

I kind of wonder if I altered the lizard's life forever...
Introducing it to one of my dragons.
Or maybe it's just wondering where it could score a sweet set of wings for it's own self....
Either way I am wondering way too much about what that lizard is thinking...
